Student profile data. Students provide information during the guided interview process, including personal experiences, values, activities, and writing samples. This data is used solely to generate personalized essay drafts.

Payment information. We use Stripe to process payments. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers. Stripe collects and processes payment data in accordance with their own privacy policy.

Usage data. We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, browser type, device information, and IP address.

Product analytics and diagnostics. We use privacy-limited analytics and error monitoring to understand which public resources and app workflows are working. We do not send essay drafts, writing samples, interview answers, payment card numbers, passwords, or raw profile responses to these analytics events.

Cookies and similar technologies. We use essential cookies to maintain your session and preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Generate personalized essay drafts based on your profile
• Process transactions and send related information
• Send transactional emails (account confirmations, receipts, and service updates)

3. AI Processing

Our Service uses AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude API) to generate essay drafts. When you use the essay generation feature:

• Your profile data and writing samples are sent to the AI model to produce drafts
• We do not use your data to train AI models
• AI-generated content is stored in your account and is not shared with other users

Anthropic's data processing is governed by their own privacy policy and data processing agreements.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• Service providers who assist in operating the Service (hosting, payment processing, email delivery, error tracking, and analytics)
• Legal authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect our rights
• Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case your data would remain subject to this policy

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), secure cloud infrastructure, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Service is designed for high school students (typically ages 14–18) applying to college. Students under 18 should use the Service with parental consent. We collect only the information necessary to provide the essay-building experience. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information without parental consent, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. Third-Party Services

Our Service integrates with third-party providers. Each has its own privacy practices:

• Stripe (payment processing)
• Anthropic (AI essay generation)
• Google (OAuth authentication)
• Cloudflare (hosting and content delivery)
• Sentry (error tracking, performance monitoring, and masked diagnostic replay for errors)
• PostHog (product analytics, funnel measurement, and feature flags)
• Resend (transactional email)
