Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 14 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. Parents or guardians who create accounts and purchase credits accept these Terms for themselves and for any minor students they authorize to use the Service.

2. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information when creating your account
• Promptly update your information if it changes
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
• Not share your account with others or create multiple accounts

3. The Service

Jengo provides an AI-powered platform that helps students craft college application essays. The Service includes:

• A guided profile interview to capture your story, values, and experiences
• A storyboard engine that maps narrative frameworks across essay prompts
• AI-generated essay drafts matched to your voice and profile
• An editing workspace to review and refine drafts

The Service is a writing tool. All essays are drafts intended to be reviewed, edited, and personalized by the student. Responsibility for the final submitted essay rests entirely with the student.

4. Credits and Payments

Essay generation is powered by a credit-based system:

• Credits are purchased through Stripe and are non-refundable once used
• Each credit produces one full essay draft
• The profile interview and storyboard strategy are included free
• Unused credits do not expire

We reserve the right to change pricing at any time. Price changes will not affect credits already purchased.

5. Refund Policy

Unused credits may be refunded within 30 days of purchase by contacting us. Credits that have been used to generate an essay draft are non-refundable. If you experience a technical issue that prevents a credit from producing a usable draft, contact us and we will either resolve the issue or restore the credit.

6. Intellectual Property

Your content. You retain ownership of all content you provide (profile information, writing samples, essay edits). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

Generated content. Essay drafts generated by the Service are yours. You may use, modify, and submit them as you see fit. We do not claim ownership of generated drafts.

Our content. The Service, its design, features, and underlying technology are owned by Jengo and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Submit false or misleading information in your profile
• Attempt to access another user's account or data
• Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit generated essays
• Use automated tools to scrape or extract content from the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure
• Submit content that is harmful, abusive, or violates the rights of others

8. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Essay drafts are generated by artificial intelligence and should be treated as starting points, not finished products. You acknowledge that:

• AI-generated drafts may contain errors or inaccuracies
• You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying all content before submission
• The use of AI-assisted writing tools in college applications is subject to each institution's policies
• We do not guarantee any specific outcome in the admissions process

It is your responsibility to ensure that your use of the Service complies with the policies of the institutions to which you are applying.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Jengo shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Jengo harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your submission of AI-assisted content to any institution.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the revised Terms on this page and updating the effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.
